Ditte Heath graduated from the Art Academy in Copenhagen in 1948 while her husband Adrian Heath graduated as architect from the School of Architecture in London in 1951.
After working for the London Council during the 1950s they returned to Denmark to set up their own studio in 1963, focusing on furniture, interior and industrial design.
During the 60s their design reflect the tendency in Danish furniture design history towards simplicity and preference for oak and other light woods.
Ditte and Adrian Heath worked for several renowned factories such as Cado, France & Søn, Søren Horn and FDB Furniture over the years.
The history of FDB Furniture (FDB Møbler in Danish) dates back to 1942 and was founded with architect Børge Mogensen as head of the studio. Many famous Danish designers such as Hans J. Wegner, Poul Volther, Ejvind Johansson and Jørgen Bækmark were employed by the FDB studio over the years.
The fundamental principles of FDB remain the same today as back in the 1940s: To create beautiful, functional and exceptionally crafted furniture that makes room for everyday living at home. And that can withstand everyday wear and tear to age gracefully with those who use them.
